Hello world!
April 14th, 2011Journey vs. Destiny
April 6th, 2010Thank you to all of the people who are following my ‘never write enough’ blog! I appreciate you all and hope that one day I really get the hang of blogging on a more consistent basis. Until then, thank you for following and I hope you enjoy the thinking that’s share.
Journey vs. Destiny
Life for most of us is a means to achieving a certain end. Some of us want to be rich, some to be famous, some aim to earn everybody’s respect, and some just want to be remembered as kind, blessed souls. Some people may argue that smaller goals like losing a few pounds, or scoring well in a particular examination, or looking forward to a promotion are also important, but these cease to matter after a short period of time, or as one grows older and wiser. We are talking here of goals that define our lives, goals that shape it, and goals that become our destiny.
Destiny! There is not much to be said about destiny, that has not yet been spoken, written, discussed, or even thought of already. Is human life condemned to pre-destination, or do we all choose our own path…our own destiny? From existentialism, to what we read/hear today, destiny plays the starring role, forcing us to confront its existence, and make it the end to all human life.
How many times have we consoled ourselves saying that such and such was destined to happen, or blamed something on the cycle of karma? Do we take destiny as the inevitable, inexorable end, or do we believe that destiny is what you make out of your own life. Do we each have the power to shape our own destiny, and if yes, then are the means to achieve your destiny any important? Or is destiny so brutally powerful that the means to achieve it merely become expedient acts? Well, there are no right or wrong answers to these questions. You and I could completely differ but these issues do call for some soul searching.
So, is the journey that we take towards our destiny as important as reaching the destiny, or as long as you achieve what you want, the means hardly matter? It is here that issues of morality and ethics begin to crop up. Is destiny really so important that it does not matter whether the path leading to it is strewn with greed, guilt, torment and selfish motives, or is reaching your destiny with a clean slate, untainted by a guilty conscience, the only way to go about it? The answer is not easy, and there may not be one right answer for everybody, but for those smiling down on us from the heavens- there is only one answer, and perhaps they were destined to find it!
Blessings–

Why Most New Year’s Resolutions Fail
January 2nd, 2010I read a report the other day that said that according to several polls, nearly 88% of Americans make New Year’s Resolutions. But, about 50% abandon them by January 2, and on January 3rd, another 10% have also fallen off of the wagon. By April 1st, nearly 90% of those Resolutions have gone by the wayside. To me, those are astounding numbers! That also means that the promises that we tend to make for ourselves at this time of the year don’t generally work. Or, we don’t have the sticktoitiveness to make those things that we resolve to do continue to work. How do we overcome this obstable?
I believe that as we desire to change some of the circumstances in our lives that we truly have to go back to understand why we have gotten to a certain place in the first place. Often times, we only deal with the symptoms of the problem without getting to the root of the problem. For example, we may say that we know that we need to lose weight and/or start eating/exercising but the symptom is weight loss, the root may be emotional eating, low self-esteem, generational curses, etc. While going back and reclaiming and restoring those places may be painful for some, they are necessary if we ever plan to being in that 10% of those who start the new year with a plan and by April 2nd, are still working that plan.
If you are one who made a resolution, take the time to really go back and understand why you made that particular one so that you are doing it for the right reasons. Also, make sure that you are not trying to take on more than you are capable of taking on at one time. And, give yourself permission to get back up if you fall short. Remember, you need good mental stability to make any true changes in your life.
Good luck and stick with it.
Wishing you tremendous success,

Nearly the New Year
December 29th, 2009Hi All. Well, it’s nearly the new year and we are all gearing up with all of the promises that we tend to make at this time of the year looking forward to the next. There’s generally a catchy slogan such as, “We will win in 2010″ (that’s from my dad) that we all seem to like and go with as it gives us new hope for the new adventures. I think we perhaps should look at doing a few things differently for the next year. I think we should start by deciding that we will let go of 2 things that have hindered us in the past even if that means forgiveness for someone who doesn’t deserve it. The reality is forgiveness is for us and not them anyway. Then, I think we should decide on one thing that we will overcome this next year that has really been keeping us back from attaining a level of excellence in our lives. This should be something that many people don’t even know that you struggle with from day to day…something that you don’t talk about all of the time.
I am making a commitment every day to begin healing from the inside and letting go of some things from the past. I am deciding that this year WILL be new for me even though I will not be able to see that newness everyday, but as time goes on, I’ll be able to look back and see the change that I have desired within myself for a long time. I am committing to not be in this very place next year, but to be at the level that I should be at in one year form today! Everyday I will renew my commitment to myself even if that means I have to put a post-it on my mirror to see in the morning and when I get home from work; even if that means I have to put reminder alarms on my phone throughout the day about my renewed commitment; even if I have to memorize a mantra that I need to recite daily–I’ll do what it takes and I encourage you to do the same.
Realize that life is about the decisions that we make today and what we are doing today…not tomorrow, not next year, not after we get a promotion, not after our child is born, not after we find Mr. or Mrs. Right, not after our education, but today and know that today is the day to start on that next and most important journey of your life to this date…deciding to be a better you…until next year…
Blessings,
Dr. T
Less than 60 days!
November 5th, 2009There’s less than 60 days left for 2009. For some, that’s a blessing for others, it’s been a great year and they may hate to see it go. Either way, it’s a new adventure with new opportunities to walk in your destiny, but don’t get too ahead of yourself.
Take the rest of this year and put some plans into action. Decide that you will walk…no run into the new year having put some plans into action or having decided that you will stop doing something that you’ve told yourself time and time again that you’d stop doing! Either way, make sure that you use the rest of this year to be purposeful and don’t allow ‘chores’ or distractions get in your way as they always seem to do and keep you from having great production for yourself over the next (less than) 60 days.
Good luck and let me know how things are going for you and/or what your plans are to do or stop doing.

Long Overdue
September 27th, 2009Hi all and I first want to apologize for not updating my blog! I do plan on having regular posts, but I’m just getting the hang of this and will be doing much better!
Thank you for following this blog about your Destiny Call. I’m excited that you are at least thinking about it and wanting to know so much more about it.
Just to update you, I just finished (2 weeks ago) my very first women’s seminar and it was fantastic! We talked all day about walking in your destiny, some of the reasons behind why people don’t fulfill their destiny, where to start, what to let go and a ton more things! The goal is to simply change lives and encourage people to live their lives as excellent as it was intended.
If you are one that wants guidance support and you desire to walk in your destiny, stay tuned because there’s so much more to come!
Wishing you tremendous blessings,
Dr. T
